Upper Key Stage 2
Welcome to Class 5 and Class 6!
Our Curriculum Project for Summer is Time Traveller!
Time Traveller
TIME TRAVELLER – A time travelling journey through the history of York. We will be learning about key events that shaped York and how the everyday lives of York residents have changed through the ages.
Tick, tock, tick, tock. The hands on the clock never stop. From the moment we are born, from toddler to teen, middle age to elderly, time stops for no man. This half term, we’ll meet people from different generations to find out what life was like in the past and we’ll predict how things might change in the future, with a focus on York. Using our Horrible History of the World and our Gruesome Guide to York texts, we will explore key characters, learn about the fascinating history of York and different historical periods and create information texts in the style of these humorous non-fiction texts! We’ll also create clock artwork based on the style of Salvador Dali. By taking close up photographs, we’ll be able to create our own Andy Warhol style prints and experiment to see how photographs can be changed and enhanced. Smile, please! Imagine that you could time travel. When would you like to travel to and what would you like to see? Will you head back to your past or into your future? You decide. At the end of the project we’ll make collages to represent our hopes and dreams.
